What is Qurbani?
Qurbani is a religious practice in Islam where an animal is sacrificed in the way of Allah. This Islamic practice is performed during the annual pilgrimage of Hajj. Muslims in all over the world slaughter animals once a year on the occasion of the Islamic festival Eid ul Adha. This Islamic practice is performed on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhul-Hijjah.
Purpose Behind Qurbani
The purpose of Qurbani traces back to the story of Hazarat Ibrahim and his son Hazrat Ismail. At that time Prophet Ibrahim had only son Hazrat Ismail. Allah ordered him in his dream to slaughter his only son in the way of Allah. In his devotion to Allah, he agreed as did Prophet Ismail. When the knife was on the neck of Ismail, Allah sent him a white horned ram. After that, he slaughtered the Paradise Ram instead of his son. “Innī wajjahtu wajhiya lilladhī faṭara as-samāwāti wal-arḍa ḥanīfan wamā anā minal-mushrikīn. Inna ṣalātī wa nusukī wa maḥyāya wa mamātī lillāhi rabbil-‘ālamīn. Lā sharīka lah, wa bidhālika umirtu wa anā minal-muslimīn. Allāhumma minka wa laka.”

Method of Qurbani
Qurbani ki Niyat
Make clear intention in your heart that you are performing this ritual of Qurbani. This intention is made for worshiping and obedience to Allah before starting the slaughtering.
Animal selection
Healthy animals should be selected according to the criteria in Islam. Sheep, goats, cows, and camels are commonly sacrificed animals.
Time
The sacrifice should be done before the Eid prayer. This act is performed during the appointed days of Eid ul Adha which are from 10th to 12th.

Qurbani ki Dua in Quran
One common dua which is recited as qurbani karte waqt ki dua, mentioned in Quran in Surah Al-An’am. Verses 162 and 163 are as follow:
Verse 162:
قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Translation:
Say, “Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.”
Verse 163:
لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ۖ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
Translation:
No partner has Him. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims.
Qurbani ki Dua Ahle Hadees
The above mentioned the same qurbani zibah ki dua is also recited by Ahle Hadees. Ahle Hadees are the people who reject it when a scholar’s opinion conflicts with the Quran and Sahih Hadith.
